David Jason Perez is a Filipino-American entertainer. He first garnered attention in the Television & Film world playing the hip/edgy nightclub DJ roles in hit television shows. His first breakthrough appearance was on Dollhouse where he played his first Featured Role as the Nightclub Scene's DJ. Then he made several appearances on the 90210 and Parenthood series for different party scenes also playing the DJ. After expanding to a wider range of characters, instead of only the DJ role, he pursued the film world more seriously. He made a breakthrough appearance on "1000 Ways To Die" as the Principal Breakdancer for the "Superstar" episode. He most recently appeared in the hit TV show on FOX Network, "New Girl" as a day player playing the role of Trevor, and he has danced on numerous independent artists' music videos. By the age of 6, he was already dancing to Michael Jackson's music and practicing Michael's moves. At the age of 8, he was already writing poems, singing, composing his own music, writing his own lyrics, and had the passion for it. At the age of 10, he was already filming homemade movies with his father's 8mm video camera. He liked to make comedy, action, and drama movies at a very young age. Since he was already writing songs and making music at this age, he also incorporated his filmmaking skills to make homemade music videos and short films. By the age of 11, Perez purchased his first pair of turntables and a music mixer. He discovered the hobby & craft of DJing and turntablism, and it really appealed to him making him dedicated to the art. At the age of 12, he landed his first major Disc Jockey gig for his mother's co-worker's wedding. From this point on, he was DJing for birthday parties, weddings, social gatherings, events, school dances, winter formals, proms, homecoming dancing, etc throughout his adolescent years. During his career as a DJ, he was also pursuing a Dance career. He's made several appearances for Six Flags Magic Mountain - Halloween Dance Events, Live stage event performances,and he also choreographed the Lip Sync and school performances during his high school senior years. By the age of 13, since he was already writing poetry, making songs, and is very musically inclined, he developed an interest in playing the piano. His grandfather, Vicente M. Perez was an established, successful Jazz Musician, who played the keyboard/piano for his Jazz Band, "Dominic", and they have released over 10 albums in the past 60 years. The band of his grandfather's was very popular at his time, and they traveled on cruise ships to Asia, Australia, Europe, the Atlantic, and all over the Pacific. His grandfather was his true inspiration and he continued to pursue his passion to entertain, just as his grandfather did. By the age of 21, Perez wanted to take his DJing and music career to the next level and purchased a Roland Phantom keyboard/synthesizer. He formed a Hip-Hop/R&B production crew with his lifelong high school friends Shawn "Produce" Lee & Trevor Long aka Legendary. They became known as "Cali-Known Entertainment" aka "Ingenious Records". Perez was the main songwriter for the hooks and most of the versus of the R&B and Hip-Hop tracks produced by Shawn Lee. Music has always been his passion and by this time, Perez wanted to take all aspects of the Entertainment industry. He landed his first featured DJ role in the NBC TV show Dollhouse by the age of 24. He received his Associate of Arts in Business from DeVry University by the age of 25. Still doing the entertainment work on the side, he also worked part-time doing clerical work in an office. By the age of 27, he received his license in Massage Therapy in the state of California. Perez grew up in the suburbs of West Hills, CA, where he participated in productions at a local community college. During his mid-twenties, the passion for Acting started to become more prevalent, as he started getting more exposure and landing more roles in television shows and films. He decided to enroll in a few acting courses and meet with acting coaches to train him. Perez made his premiere non-DJ role for a television show "New Girl" as he interacts with the lead character. By the age of 28, he is signed by a commercial agency to further pursue his career.
